September 3, 2025Bristol Water Trials Aqualogic’s iQuarius Leak Detection with Positive Results
Bristol Water has recently completed a successful trial of Aqualogic’s iQuarius Leak Detection technology, delivering strong results in one of the most challenging District Metered Areas (DMAs) within its network.
The chosen DMA contained over 6,000 properties and a high natural rate of rise, making it a labour-intensive zone for Bristol Water’s in-house inspectors. By allocating this area to Aqualogic’s specialist iQuarius team, Bristol Water was able to focus its own resources on smaller, more efficient DMAs.
Aqualogic deployed a team of four trained technicians, supported by supervisor Luke, who completed the survey of 7,829 taps and fittings in just 7–9 working days. The work identified 72 points of interest (POIs) for further investigation. Follow-up activity confirmed:
- 54 of 72 POIs were confirmed leaks
- 43 of these leaks required repair, while 11 were uneconomical to repair and will be monitored
- The survey located an estimated 7,700 litres per hour of leakage
- Repairs raised by Bristol Water’s inspectors equated to an additional 7,500 litres per hour
- These results reflect a leak conversion rate of at least 75%, with approximately 60% of all leaks raised for repair, saving around 7,500 litres of water per hour in this single DMA.
Josh Arnold, Leakage Control Manager at Bristol Water, commented:
“The iQuarius trial has been a real success, providing strong results in a difficult DMA while freeing up our in-house team to focus on other areas. We were impressed with both the technology and the professionalism of the Aqualogic team.”
Ashley Williams, Director at Aqualogic, added:
“We are delighted with the outcome of this trial and the partnership approach taken with Bristol Water. The iQuarius platform is proving its value in tackling leakage, and we look forward to supporting Bristol Water in further reducing water loss across the network.”
This successful trial underlines the effectiveness of Aqualogic’s iQuarius solution in large, complex DMAs and its potential to support water companies nationwide in driving down leakage and improving efficiency.
