Wessex Water Schools Programme
Wessex Water Water Efficiency Schools Programme
The Client: Wessex Water
Wessex Water supplies approximately 2.8 million customers across the south west of England including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire. Wessex Water treats and supplies 280 million litres of water a day to 1.3 million customers.
The Brief: Schools Programme
Wessex Water supplied Aqualogic with data for all secondary schools within the Wessex Water boundary, with a view to identifying schools with a high water use. Once a school was identified a water usage audit was arranged with a full report and recommendations showing costs, savings and payback periods. An Aqualogic engineer then implemented all recommendations installing a range of water efficient products.
Key Aspects
Benchmarking – PCC (Per Capita Consumption) benchmarking was used to compare schools performance against other schools in the area.
- Behavioural Change – The project was not just about schools consumption but converting the schools children into ‘water savers’ wherever possible through behavioural change.
- Teamwork – Only highly trained and qualified engineers with a passion for water efficiency were used to deliver the project overseen by a locally based Project Manager liaising with the client on a regular basis.
- Products – A combination of WC fittings including push taps, flow regulators, urinal controls and shower heads were used to make substantial savings.
Results
The project was extremely successful with both the client and individual schools delighted with the savings achieved.
- £81040 Financial Saving
- 20% Water Savings (assumed)

Southern Water Domestic Audits
The Client: Southern Water
Southern Water provides water and wastewater services for Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, supplying more than 1 million households covering a total of 10,530km².
The Brief :Comprehensive Audit and Retro Fit Programme
Southern Water asked us to implement a comprehensive audit and retro fit programme for homes (with meters), businesses, schools and communities in the Southern Water area.
Implementation
Southern Water supplied raw customer data for us to organise and feed into our in-house call centre where a dedicated team book appointments in geographical zones.
A team of engineers was recruited specifically for the 28,000 domestic audits while engineers from our existing network were tasked with the businesses, schools and communities.
A bespoke survey and calculator app was developed as well as a training programme to ensure that the focus was heavily on customer engagement and behavioural change as well as installing water saving products.
As the programme developed a water butt scheme was added, offering customers a heavily discounted water butt including installation.
Key Aspects:
- Geographic Zones: The focus was on the 4 main water stressed areas of the Southern Water area as well as customers who may have financial or affordability issues.
- Products: A range of products was agreed specifically for the toilet, taps and shower. For non domestic properties the list includes urinals as well.
- Branding: All engineers have Southern Water ID as well as heavily branded uniforms and a branded vehicle.
- Schools: School visits are timed to work together with the Education Team, who will run an educational programme in sync with the Aqualogic visit.
Results:
The project commenced November 2015 and has been extremely well received by Southern Water customers. The end-to-end programme from acquisition to delivery has proven to be very successful. The figures detailed below are for the first 6 months:

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water Online Web Portal
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water Online Web Portal
The Client: Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water
The Brief: Comprehensive Audit and Retro Fit Programme
Welsh Water tasked us with building an online web portal, which followed their branding guidelines and allowed their customers to purchase paid water saving items, and claim free water saving items too.
Delivery
We built a framework, which exactly mimicked Welsh Water’s website. We then hand-picked a wide range of excellent water saving items and populated the site with them. Welsh Water then provided us with a postcode database, with this we localised the store to those postcodes, meaning that only customers in the Welsh Water catchment area where able to benefit from the free water saving items available. As well as a wide variety of products, we also populated the site with a vast array of water saving tips.
Results
The store first opened in March 2016, and to date we have accomplished the following:
- 4032 Registered Customers
- Over 8000 Products Dispatched
- 99% Satisfaction Rate
