THE CONTEXT
Free products, no visit needed
Customers in the Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water areas can request free water-saving products suited to their homes through the water company’s water efficiency programme. The products let them act straight away, without booking an appointment.
THE CHALLENGE
Thousands of different orders, two regions
Every household could ask for a different combination of products, across two separate operating areas. The programme needed accurate stock control, careful picking and packing, dependable delivery and the flexibility to handle changes in monthly demand.
our approach
Aqualogic manages, Enabled Works packs and dispatches
Aqualogic manages the programme, product requirements, client liaison, data and performance information. Enabled Works receives and stores the products, then picks, assembles, packs and dispatches each order.
Depending on their needs, customers receive tap inserts, in-line shower regulators, cistern displacement devices, shower timers, toilet leak detection capsules, trigger hose guns and practical guidance on reducing everyday use.
Enabled Works is a not-for-personal-profit workers’ co-operative, formed in 2012 after the Leeds and Pontefract Remploy factories closed. It is owned and run by its disabled workforce.

what this proves
Water efficiency in customers' hands, with social value built in
Each product is a simple intervention. Across thousands of homes they add up, and leak detection capsules help households find silent toilet leaks they would otherwise miss.
The programme also shows how environmental delivery and social value can work together. Enabled Works brings the care and accuracy each individual order needs, while providing skilled, sustainable employment for disabled people.
Free products sit alongside the household visits Aqualogic delivers for Northumbrian Water Group. On those visits, pre- and post-visit meter readings show an average net saving of 45.91 litres per property per day. That figure comes from the household visits programme, not from the free products on their own.
