THE CONTEXT
Targeting the homes where visits count
Yorkshire Water and Aqualogic run a jointly managed mailing programme, choosing the areas where household visits will make the biggest difference. Customers then book by phone or online. The programme generated 6,980 calls and web requests and 6,045 booked appointments.
THE CHALLENGE
Turning engagement into lower consumption
Yorkshire Water needed a programme that could engage thousands of customers and turn that into measurable reductions in water use. It had to offer convenient appointments, complete detailed assessments in the home, fit products on the first visit and find hidden losses, particularly leaking toilets.
Those leaks often need specialist repair work that sits outside a standard audit, so the programme also needed a dependable route from finding a leak to fixing it.
our approach
Trained engineers first, specialist plumbers second
Aqualogic engineers, trained as water efficiency experts, carry out the first visit. They assess toilets, showers, taps and other fittings, estimate consumption, fit suitable products, check for visible and silent toilet leaks and give advice tailored to the household.
When an engineer finds a leaking toilet, they explain it to the customer and refer it. A qualified plumber then returns with the right equipment and parts to diagnose and repair it.
The programme identified 463 leaking toilets across 420 homes. Follow-up visits repaired 377 of them, around 81%.

what this proves
A household model that scales
Estimated annual consumption across the assessed homes fell from around 552 million litres to around 466 million litres, a 15.7% reduction or about 236,920 litres a day.
The programme is ahead of target, with 5,045 audits completed between June 2025 and September 2026 against a target of 4,781 for that period.
Using trained water efficiency engineers for the first visit and qualified plumbers for repairs means each part of the job gets the right expertise, and gives Yorkshire Water a measurable way to reduce household demand at scale.
