Virtual Audits ‘Highly Commended’ by UK Water Industry Dragons
In the last heat of the Future Water Association’s Water Dragons, Aqualogic received a ‘highly commended’ award from the judges and secured a coveted place on the 2021 finals. Jonathan Adler, commercial director, demonstrated how Aqualogic had coped with the restrictions due to Covid 19 and switched their highly popular and successful home water audit from an engineer visit to a virtual visit using a secure video platform.
The traditional home visit sees a qualified water efficiency engineer visiting water company customer properties, assessing their water usage, recommending water efficiency products and installing them, all while offering tips, advice and guidance as to how the customer can save water and money.
The virtual version is exactly the same still with an expert engineer, although carried out using a video platform connected to the customers mobile device, any products required by the customer are sent immediately after the appointment and a follow up call can be arranged to assist with the fitting.
The judges were impressed giving Aqualogic a ‘highly commended’ award and a place in the finals, saying: “This was a great example of business innovation and business model re-invention in the face of the considerable challenges presented by COVID 19. The new model not only transforms Aqualogic’s business, but also has the potential to transform the way in which we, as a society, can reduce water consumption through better engagement with the general public and changing behaviours in water usage.”
Ben Rice, Aqualogic MD, responded by saying: “It’s great that the judges recognised the lengths we went to, to mitigate the difficult situation we were under and the innovative way the team reacted to continue our water saving endeavours.”
Aqualogic have piloted the virtual audit with a variety of water companies including Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk water and have demonstrated that the water savings are comparable with the face-to-face version.
